Summer Beauty Essentials

The fact that I’m writing this blog post in July means that 2017 is half over! Can you believe it?! I am SO excited for summer, especially because we’ve been having gorgeous weather in Portland.  With the heat and long summer days, there’s a few key products that I’ve found myself grabbing for all the time so I thought I would share them with you all.

Laura Mercier Candleglow Sheer Perfecting Powder

Most of the time I prefer a glowing complexion over a matte finish, and this powder gives you the slightest glow on your face without looking like a disco ball. I use the shade 1 Fair and dust it all over my face as a setting powder after I apply my foundation. Plus, I’ve had it for almost two months and you can barely tell it’s been used, even after using it every single day.  The only down side is the color range, even the lightest shade is just barely light enough for me. So for all you fair skin beauties, it may be too dark.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette

One of the biggest trends this year is warm eyeshadow shades in deep reds and burnt oranges.  Urban Decay just released their Naked Heat palette, and the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palettes was one of the palettes where I first saw this trend starting. These shades are SO wearable (even though they look scary) and there’s so many great brands that have their own version to try. I always feel like my eyes look like a sunset when wearing these shades, they’re just so pretty.

MAC Eyeshadow

Before the Urban Decay palette was released, I had been using a warm toned palette from MAC, and grabbed two single shadows that were amazing crease colors. If you want to start smaller with one or two colors, I’d definitely recommend Texture & Rule.

Brow Razors

I recently started using these disposable brow razors to clean up my unibrow and quickly discovered they do so much more. Not only do these remove eyebrow hairs, I’ve been using them to remove the peach fuzz on my face. The best is that these things are SO cheap. You can get them at Target, Sally’s Beauty Supply and even Amazon.

The extra bonus is that these razors are similar to expensive facial treatments like dermaplanning, which essentially exfoliates your skin and to help stimulate cell turnover. Behold, no peach fuzz & super soft skin.

St. Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower

I am so lazy when it comes to sticking to a self tanning routine. Most products require so much prep work and time to apply self tanner, so when I saw this could be applied in the shower, I was so excited! All you do is rub it on wet skin in the shower like a body wash and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing. There is virtually no smell after you get out and it doesn’t transfer to towels or clothing. It is a gradual tanner though so if you’re looking for instant color, I’d opt for a spray tan or regular self tanner.

Jergens also recently came out with an in shower gradual tanner that is a great option too! I do prefer the St. Tropez one because there is no transfer of color on my towels or clothes.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

I have been using this tinted moisturizer for years, especially in the summer time. Plus, it has SPF 20 so you can be sure to help protect your skin and make it look a bit more flawless. It has 15 shades too which is great because a lot of tinted moisturizers don’t have a ton of range.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream

If you like a little bit more coverage, the IT Cosmetics CC cream is a good alternative to the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer.  I also love that it comes in a pump, which makes it super easy to apply and travel with.

So that’s it for my must haves this summer! What products would you recommend for summer?
